Think you need a denture repair? Let’s find out.

Hairline fractures

Thin cracks in your denture base can signal it’s time for a repair to make sure your denture has a durable, lasting fit, while also preventing bigger issues down the line.

Broken denture teeth

If any of your denture teeth have broken or chipped, we’ll strive to repair, reattach or replace them. We’ll also evaluate what caused your broken teeth to prevent further issues in the future.

Sore spots

If you feel pressure discomfort with no noticeable damage to your denture, you may need a reline. Relines resurface the base of your denture to better fit your mouth when it naturally changes.

Large fractures

Overtime, denture wear and tear is normal. If yours has a large break, your care team may recommend a major repair or an affordable replacement denture, depending on the level of damage.

How long does a denture repair take?

To minimize how much you pay, come in as soon as you notice an issue. With same-day repairs⁶ and onsite labs, we’ll see if you need a repair and which type you may need.

Major repairs

Skip the denture repair kit

While at-home denture repair kits are readily available, we don’t recommend fixing your dentures yourself.

Dentures are custom-made to fit your mouth, and trying to repair them at home can lead to improper alignment, discomfort, further damage and ultimately higher costs to replace your denture down the line.

If your dentures break or don’t fit properly, it’s best to schedule a visit with your local team of Aspen Dental denture experts for an affordable, convenient and fast professional repair.

What affects the cost of a denture reline?

The cost of your reline can vary based on a few factors. Let’s break it down so you know what to expect.

Type of reline

How much your reline costs is directly related to the type of reline you need. While both can be great solutions and help solve different needs, soft relines tend to cost less due to the type of material used.

Reline complexity

When you come in for a reline, we’ll discuss what’s uncomfortable and how we can help. If your reline calls for a greater level of complexity to get the right fit, this can affect the overall cost of your care.

Should I use a denture reline kit at home?

While at-home denture reline kits are readily available, we don’t recommend adjusting your denture yourself with one.

Dentures are custom-made to fit your mouth, and attempting to reline them at home can cause improper alignment, discomfort, further damage, increased oral health issues and ultimately higher costs to replace your denture down the line.

If you think you may need a reline, it’s best to schedule a visit so we can help assess your discomfort and see if it’s right for you.

Enjoy fast, easy denture relines with Aspen Dental

A professional reline means getting your smile back with peace of mind. That means eating, speaking, smiling and living with confidence again in no time.

We’re here to make your care easy, which is why we keep our process fast, simple and affordable. Let’s put sore spots and irritation behind you with a reline that makes smiling comfortable and easy again.

Consultation

First, we’ll examine your dentures and your oral tissue to see if you need a reline. If you do, we’ll see if you need a hard or soft reline based on your needs, discomfort and denture.

Denture prep

Next, we’ll clean your dentures to make sure your reline is even and thorough. We may also take impressions of your gums and the inside of the dentures, depending on the reline you need.

Reline

For each reline, the process is very similar. We’ll add a new layer of material to the inside of your denture based on the current shape of your mouth. When it’s ready, it’s time to start smiling again.

Adjustments

After your reline has set, we’ll check how it fits and feels. If any more adjustments are needed, we’ll make sure to apply them so you’re comfortable before you leave.

Enjoy

After your adjustments are done, it’s time to enjoy your smile! We may also schedule a follow-up to make sure your fit stays comfortable and address any further adjustments if needed.

FAQs about denture reline and repair

Yes. At Aspen Dental, we provide relining for both full dentures and partial dentures. If your dentures feel loose or uncomfortable, your care team can recommend what type of reline works best for your specific needs and comfort. A soft reline is way to resurface and adjust your denture for a gentle, cushion-like fit and feel. It’s done with soft, pliable materials making it especially helpful for new wearers who are still getting used to their dentures.

Getting started is easy. Simply book a denture exam and the care team will take care of the rest. At your visit, we’ll listen to your concerns, check the fit of your denture and create a plan for which option—a reline, repair or both—is needed to help you get smiling again. We’ll outline how long the process will take, how much it will cost and answer any questions you may have. If cost is a concern, ask about flexible financing options that may be available.

Yes. Depending on what we see after assessing you denture, we will either offer a fast, affordable repair for cracked or chipped dentures, or recommend a replacement denture. With repairs, many patients get their smiles back the same day they visit.

Yes. Relines are typically pretty fast with many patients getting a same-day care. While we’re relining your denture, you’ll temporarily be without it during your visit, but we’ll do our best to get it back to you that same day. Here’s what to know:

  • Soft relines are often done while you wait, making them a quick and convenient

  • Hard relines can take longer than soft relines. If timing is a concern, your care team will discuss temporary solutions to help you stay comfortable if your reline is estimated to take longer than a business day.

No. In general, we don’t recommend using an at-home repair or reline kit.

At-home kits are designed for temporary relief in emergencies when a professional repair or reline is not available. While they can be an interim solution, in the long run they can cause discomfort or more damage if used for too long. It’s always best to see a dental professional for proper repairs and relines.
